Berlin in 2 Days DIY Walking Tour
Berlin in 2 Days DIY Walking Tour
Distance: Day 1: 3km < 2 miles (2-8 hours); Day 2: 4.5km < 3 miles (2-8 hours).
The Berlin in 2 Days DIY Walking Tour covers a relatively flat & downhill distance of less than 8km (nearly 5 miles) over 2 days in central Berlin.
Day 2 of this Berlin DIY Walking Tour is slightly longer than Day 1. And for two very good reasons:
- The main reason is ending Day 1/and starting Day 2 at Potsdamer Platz .
Potsdamer Platz is one of the major public transport hubs in central Berlin. So it will be easier to get from there to your Berlin hotel at the end of Day 1, and to return to Potsdamer Platz at the start of Day 2.
Plus, ending the first day of your Berlin DIY Walking Tour with a view of the Berlin sunset from the top of Panoramapunkt, with a glass of something cold in your hand, is a very relaxing way to end the day.
- If one of the days has to be longer, then it makes sense to have a longer Day 2, as this will allow you to get used to walking (rather than have a longer Day 1, with every step of Day 2 then being more of an effort: remember, visiting Berlin should be FUN).
And, depending on how many Berlin attractions you want to visit, and how many amazing Berlin photographs you want to take, each day of the Berlin in 2 Days DIY Walking Tour can take anywhere from 2 to 8 hours.
If your time in Berlin is very limited though, and if you’re feeling really energetic, you should do the Berlin in 1 Day DIY Walking Tour instead. This will allow you to see as much of Berlin in just 1 day (“see” only though, you just won’t have the time to visit more than one or two of the most-popular visitor attractions in Berlin).
Points of Interest (Day 1):
Berlin Hauptbahnhof > Reichstag Building > Brandenburg Gate > Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe > Panoramapunkt/Potsdamer Platz.
Points of Interest (Day 2):
Panoramapunk/Potsdamer Platz > Topography of Terror > Checkpoint Charlie > Gendarmenmarkt (inc. the Deutscher Dom, the Französischer Dom, and the Berlin Konzerthaus) > Humboldt Forum > Berliner Dom (Berlin Cathedral) > Altes Museum > Neues Museum > Alte Nationalgalerie and the Pergamonmuseum (currently closed for major refurbishment), finally returning to Museumsinsel U-Bahn station (line U5).
There’s a LOT to see and do when you follow the Berlin in 2 Days DIY Walking Tour.
