Pussycat Lodge Trust (PCL) is a volunteer-run cat rescue charity based in Brentwood, Essex, UK, established in 1999.

Pussycat Lodge primarily serves South Essex areas including Brentwood, Basildon, Castle Point, and Chelmsford, rescuing and rehoming around 250-300 cats and kittens each rear, with a focus on providing shelter, medical care, and finding forever homes.

It handles emergency cases from surrounding areas when space allows and rehomes cats to suitable adopters anywhere, as long as certain criteria are met.

As of October 2025, PCL is in a critical transition phase: its central rescue centre, which could house up to 50 cats, must close by November 2025 due to the founder’s health issues requiring her to downsize and sell the property.

For the time being, the charity is shifting to a temporary foster-based model while fundraising for a new permanent hub, with plans to reopen a brand-new facility sometime in 2026.

This move addresses ongoing challenges like high operational costs (over £4,000 monthly for vet bills and food) and a national cat rehoming crisis, including overwhelmed shelters and stray overpopulation.
