Accessible Brighton Pavilion

The Brighton Pavilion has both a lower & upper floor. As the upper floor can only be accessed via stairs, wheelchair users are restricted to the ground floor only. However, there is a short video presentation, on the ground floor, which highlights the features of the upper floor.

Powered scooters are also prohibited (although there is absolutely no problem for powered wheelchairs).

Accessible Parking at Brighton Pavilion

Although there are no accessible parking facilities at the Brighton Pavilion itself, there are 4 Blue Badge parking spaces on nearby Church Street (opposite the Brighton Museum and Art Gallery). There is no time limit when parking here.

A further 8 accessible parking spaces can be found on Level 1 of the nearby Lanes Car Park (there’s a 1.85 metre height restriction here).

Getting to Brighton Pavilion using Public Transport

Accessible taxis can be found outside Brighton train station (on Stroudley Road, near the side exit by Platform 8), and will take you directly to the Brighton Pavilion in just 5 minutes if needed though.

It is only a 15-minute walk/roll between Brighton train station and the Brighton Pavilion if you prefer to roll there directly though.

My recommendation though (assuming it is indeed possible for you), is to take the train to Brighton train station, and follow the route of the circular Brighton DIY Walking Tour from there.

As the Brighton DIY Walking Tour is indeed circular, as well as being totally step-free and relatively flat, you can follow the route in either direction (following the Brighton DIY Walking Tour route in a clockwise direction, means that you arrive at the Brighton Pavilion near the start; and following the route in an anti-clockwise direction, means that you arrive at the Brighton Pavilion nearer the end).

Accessible Entrance to Brighton Pavilion

The main entrance to the Brighton Pavilion is totally step-free.

And there is free entry to companions or carers when accompanying a disabled visitor.

Accessible Toilets at Brighton Pavilion

There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor of the Brighton Pavilion. The accessible toilet has an extra-wide door (width 98cm).

Accessible Cafe/Restaurant at Brighton Pavilion

Although there are no accessible eating or drinking facilities within the Brighton Pavilion building, the outdoor Pavilion Gardens Cafe within the grounds is accessible. And although there are no toilet facilities at the Pavilion Gardens Cafe itself, there is an accessible public toilet nearby.
