Although Glasgow is rather hilly in places (which means a lot of pushing up hills when you leave central Glasgow), the city centre, and especially the riverside walkway (where many of the best attractions in Glasgow are located), is reasonably flat and level, and makes for an excellent day out for wheelchair users.

Getting to Glasgow

The main train station in Glasgow city centre, is Glasgow Central Station.

ScotRail provides train services from other cities in Scotland.

Trains from England, which run along the West Coast Main Line, are provided by Avanti West Coast (trains from London, depart from London Euston Station).

If arriving by car (in your own Wheelchair Adapted Vehicle – WAV), then I recommend staying at a hotel near the Scottish Event Campus, as this will avoid any city-centre parking issues.

Getting around Glasgow

Glasgow is a very compact city – so walking/rolling is pretty much all that is needed to visit the best attractions in the city centre – and wheelchair accessible taxis will get you further afield.

Glasgow is also a very easy city to find your way around, and I have created a series of maps which show you where the best attractions, coffee shops, restaurants and hotels can be found.

Wheelchair Accessible Restaurants in Glasgow

The Hilton Garden Inn Glasgow City Centre has a wonderful riverside terrace, which is a real treat when the weather is pleasant.

And if not, the indoor seating area (which is also fully wheelchair accessible) is also a great place to watch the River Clyde rolling by, while you eat & drink in comfort.

There is also a wheelchair accessible toilet.

And as the Hilton Garden Inn Glasgow City Centre is located midway along the step-free, and wheelchair accessible, Glasgow Riverside DIY Walking Tour, it makes for the ideal place to break your walk.
