Wheelchair accessible DIY Walking Tours in Edinburgh

If you’re planning to follow the Royal Mile, and you definitely should, then I would really recommend that you start at Edinburgh Castle, and roll downhill to the Holyrood Parliament building and the Palace of Holyroodhouse (all downhill – and Edinburgh Castle most definitely is at the top of a rather steep hill).

Getting to Edinburgh

The main train station in Edinburgh city centre, is Edinburgh Waverley Train Station.

ScotRail provides train services from other cities in Scotland.

Trains from England, which run along the East Coast Main Line, are provided by LNER (trains from London, depart from London Kings Cross Station).

Getting around Edinburgh

Edinburgh is a reasonably easy city to roll around. Although, getting up to Edinburgh Castle might be a struggle.

Wheelchair accessible taxis are available for this. And also available when required to go further afield (definitely recommended for a visit to the Royal Yacht Britannia for now – until the new tram line to Leith and Newhaven is ready – Spring 2023).
