Berlin in a Day DIY Walking Tour

Distance: 7 km (about 4.5 miles);  Duration: 2-8 hours

See Berlin in 1 day? Yes, it’s possible. It’s not recommended though, as that’s all you will have time for. Seeing Berlin (and maybe stopping to take one or two photographs).

Ideally, you should do The Berlin DIY Walking Tour in two stages – split over two separate days (there’s just SO much to see & do, and if you want to see Berlin at your leisure, then two days is so much better: see the Berlin in 2 Days DIY Walking Tour).

This Berlin in 1 Day DIY Walking Tour is just 7 kilometres long though (about 4.5 miles), and takes in most of the attractions of central Berlin that you’ll want to visit:

Berlin Hauptbahnhof > Reichstag Building > Brandenburg Gate > Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe > Panoramapunkt/Potsdamer Platz > Topography of Terror > Checkpoint Charlie > Gendarmenmarkt (inc. the Deutscher Dom, the Französischer Dom, and the Berlin Konzerthaus) > Humboldt Forum > Berliner Dom (Berlin Cathedral) > Altes Museum > Neues Museum > Alte Nationalgalerie and the Pergamonmuseum (currently closed for major refurbishment).

And because it’s a DIY walking tour of Berlin, you can take it at your very own pace; stopping for a coffee/snack/drink where, when, and for as long as you like; and lingering at the attractions of Berlin that interest you (and speeding past those that don’t).

So if you were to simply rush round without stopping, you could easily complete the DIY Berlin Walk in 2 hours. However, I would recommend taking a full day to complete the circuit of central Berlin – as there’s just so much to see and do in Berlin (and splitting the walk over two days would be even better).

Berlin in 1 Day DIY Walking Tour: Step-by-Step Walking Instructions

Step-by-step walking instructions are available to my Patreon supporters only (your support costs just £2/month – and as there are now 24 walking tours, this works out at 8 pence per walk). There’s no contract – support is on a month-by-month basis, and can be stopped at any time, with the click of a button.

Your support enables me to create even more of these step-free DIY Walking Tours. And to write accessibility articles for the attractions found along those routes (these articles are freely available to all other wheelchair users).

All step-by-step walking instructions are based on Google StreetView, and include 360-degree photographs of every street-crossing and junction (and for wheelchair users, photographs of every dropped kerb).
