If submitting books for inclusion in the competition that includes the book’s date of publication, please submit all books in the month PRIOR to publication (so that I have them in hand before the competition starts).

This is an excellent way for you to promote new titles – to a Twitter audience of well over 22,000 (and the positive PR is pretty decent too 😉 ).

Why two copies?

One copy is included as a competition prize. The second copy is sent directly to one of the 17 regional FareShare branches, and given to the volunteers there. However, BOTH copies are labelled, to encourage sharing after reading (so in effect, the competition winners and FareShare volunteers become a “national distribution network” – the point where your donated books enter the public domain).
